Terms of use

Last updated 31 October 2026

These terms apply when you download or use Kinetic DSP RELAY (the app, the VST3 and Audio Unit plugins and the browser listener page), host or join a RELAY session, or use kineticdsp.com. RELAY is provided by Kinetic DSP, India ("we", "us"). By using RELAY you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. The open beta

RELAY is in open beta and free to use. Beta software can have bugs, and features, formats and limits may change or be removed. We may introduce paid plans; if we do, we'll say so on this website before any charge applies, and nothing you use for free today will be charged without your agreement. We may suspend or end the beta, or the session service, at any time.

The Mac version is not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized by Apple, so macOS cannot verify its origin for you. Download it only from kineticdsp.com or the release page it links to. You install and run it at your own risk, and sections 5 and 6 apply to it in full.

2. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use RELAY on computers you own or control, for personal or professional work, including sessions with your clients. RELAY remains our property. You may not:

RELAY includes open-source components, which remain under their own licences. The app lists them under Licenses, and the Windows installer places them in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.

3. Using sessions

4. Updates

The app checks for new versions: on Windows it offers to install them, and on Mac it links to the new version for you to download. We may stop supporting older versions; the session service may then ask you to update before you can host or join.

5. No warranty

RELAY is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that RELAY will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Internet streaming can drop out or lag; don't rely on RELAY where an interruption would cause loss or harm, such as a paid live broadcast without a backup.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of RELAY. Our total liability for any claim relating to RELAY is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for RELAY in the 12 months before the claim and INR 1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

7. Ending

You can stop using RELAY at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 5 to 9 continue to apply after that.

8. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what data RELAY processes and why.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any rights you have as a consumer where you live.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when paid plans arrive. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, give notice on this website before they take effect. Continuing to use RELAY after that means you accept the updated terms.
